It’s convention season in Germany, the slow and quiet period between Christmas and spring. Over a month ago, we went to Dusseldorf to check out the “Boot Messe”. I am not normally fond of boating and you could safely classify me as someone afraid of water. I blame this on early exposure to movies like Jaws, which ruined the oceans for me and Piranha, which ruined me for fresh water sports.
This weekend we are going to Hannover for CeBit, which will most likely bring back flashbacks of installing Windows 95 and early versions of Windows NT from diskettes, but will also yield pictures of flashy new whatnots and dodads that we will all be clambering for in the coming year.
So, in the meantime, here are some pictures from the boat show. I will be setting up one of those buttons where you can send me money on PayPal, because I really want to buy one of these boats. I am hoping for a big one but would be perfectly happy with the swan paddle boat. I think it would look supremely cool parked in the canal in front of our apartment in Emden, next to our neighbors ginormous sailboat. I would also love to see the facial expression on the fellow that opens the bridges to the harbor. So, please, please, send money!
This company Linssen Boating Holiday is run by some really wonderful people – you can hire one of these great boats and cruise around the lovely canals of Belgium. Belgium is a really nice place and if you need proof you can check out my post about Gent, which is a lovely city you can cruise past.
This was the coolest stand and made me want to open a water park!
Wouldn’t you want to play on these at the lake? A great place to hang out, if the piranhas come back.
This was the strangest leisure boat we saw – it is round so it spins around like a tilt-a-whirl, but there is also a place for drinks.
This is the paddle boat of my dreams and I would love to have this parked outside our flat. Please!!!
This is a little one man fishing floater, you can get it with a motor too. One step beyond fishing pants.
Sorry if you got a mail from me yesterday in Norwegian, WP is toying with me and my sites, but I think we are back on track again. 🙂
