We spent a few days in Florence this spring and although this trip was less about taking pictures and much more about having fun with friends, both new and old. I did manage to take a few photos in between wine and gelato breaks.
I almost made it to the top of the Duomo and deeply admire anyone who does. The steps were not the worst part. It was the path around the inside of the dome that took the breath out of me. I do wish they would install an emergency exit for people that regret their decision to walk in single file up, a dark winding staircase, without handrails, few windows and only occasionally ventilation. The most aggravating part was the contrast between my panic and the calmness of the young Italian guard standing on the ridiculously cracked and narrow balcony.
