Bremer Weihnachtsmarkt

Christmas is coming at record speed and the appeal of Christmas markets has not worn off yet.  We spent this past weekend with friends exploring Bremen by wandering through the chilly market streets and warming ourselves with Jägertee.

Saturday we checked into the Hilton Bremen seated slightly to the right of the middle of everything in Bremen. And then we were off to wander through Schnoor to see if the buildings were stilling standing since our last visit. We had a traditional dinner at the Hofbrauhaus Bremen complete with a rousing sing along.  Afterwards we could enjoy  shopping until midnight as well as a soggy trip around the market stands.

Sunday we took a better look at the markets in the town square and down by the river.  The costumes and atmosphere at the Schlachte Embankment were lovely but the chill from the river made it a short experience.  Dinner at Katzen Cafe’ was good enough but it may be time to expand our horizons and find another restaurant in the Schnoor.

The market has a camera outside to snap pictures of visitors. Here is the picture of us. Seems to me that they could have used a better flash. 😉

Monday we said goodbye to Bremen but not before we checked out Karstadt and Ochtum Park Outlet Center which yielded at least a few Christmas presents. Psst – only 10 days until Christmas.

  1. I love looking at all the pictures you take! What an adventure! I have a few Wendt and Kuhn wooden figurines… are they expensive there? The little angels are so cute!

    • Hi Lisa! I love the old buildings here, it wakes the closet photographer in me. 🙂 The smallest little angels were around 20 euros – I agree they were cute as pie! Are you looking for more? They are a big attraction at the Christmas markets. I think Germans are just as crazy about Christmas as Americans!
